Last morning at Gîte Terre de Sapins, with breakfast served in the apartment and delicious fresh Alsatian apple juice.
Last meal at the Gîte Terre de Sapins, a very well decorated restaurant in an Alsatian-Vosges mountain style, with lots and lots of skis and even a Kachelofe (or Kachelofen), the traditional Alsatian stove (heater).
We’ve just left the Lac Blanc resort in Alsace (Blancrupt), near Orbey.
Today we’re going to explore the Alsace Wine Route. We’ll pass by magnificent Alsatian houses with “clad” facades.
Short stop in the village of Kientzheim (Kaysersberg Vignoble), a place famous for its great wines and its listed medieval ramparts, at the foot of the Vosges.
Magnificent place here, we walk between the vines of the village of Kientzheim (Kaysersberg Vignoble).
Continuation of the visit to the magnificent Village of Kientzheim, at the foot of the Vosges, geraniums, half-timbered Alsatian houses…
We continue our road trip in Alsace along the Wine Route, passing through Bennwihr, past the magnificent Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church. It’s recognizable by its roof covered with diamond-shaped “polychrome glazed tiles,” exactly the same style as the Hospices de Beaune in Burgundy!
Then, we head to Riquewihr.
We continue our road trip in Alsace on the Wine Route, passing in front of the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg and the Châteaux of Ribeauvillé (Saint-Ulrich and Girsberg), then Dambach-la-Ville.
Arrival at Dambach-la-Ville, through the medieval gates.
