Sunday, August 20, 2023, marks the Feast of the Sagra di San Bernardo in the hamlet of Aer (Tignale), as it does every year in August.
This mortning is the perfect opportunity to taste the “Spiedo Bresciano,” which we’ve been ordering for a few days now at the Macelleria e Polleria Moschini butcher shop in Gardola (Tignale).
It’s a typical local dish, dating back to the Middle Ages. It’s cooked on a spit with several meats: pork, chicken, rabbit, and potatoes.
This is an event not to be missed if you’re in the area. It’s still a very authentic and warm celebration, with almost only locals participating, and a few passing tourists.
The Sagra poster details a busy day:
– Open-air mass in traditional costumes
– Parade of folk groups
– Opening of the kitchens with typical dishes at lunch and in the evening
– Live concerts and a popular dance
– Entertainment for young and old until late into the night
The preparations are in courses.
The Feast of the Sagra di San Bernardo in Aer, a great atmosphere, and the opportunity to taste typical dishes of Northern Italy, Salamelle, Panini alla Salamina with fries (Patatine Fritte).
