On 18 April 2026, late in the afternoon, a major fire broke out in Stiring-Wendel.
A column of smoke over the town
The fire involved tyres and scrubland, and a thick column of black smoke could be seen from far away, including from around the Lycée Condorcet. The emergency services were on site. Thanks to the firefighters who were mobilised that day.
