🇲🇩 Gagaouzie (Moldova)

Manor of Bey Manuc
We arrive in Gagauzia, an autonomous region of Moldova.
Our first visit is the Manuc Bey Manor in Hincești.
It’s a magnificent French-style château with a park and winter garden, built in the 19th century by Alexander Bernardazzi.

Here are the rest of the photos from the visit to the Manor of Bey Manuc in Hincești in Gagauzia (Autonomous Region of Moldova).

Gagauzia
We finally see the “enter” the autonomous region of Gagauzia, in Moldova.
Impressive monument with the Moldovan and Gagauz flags and the inscription “Komrat Dolayı” (Comrat District, capital of the region).
Very few tourists here !

Comrat
Our small group arrived safely in Komrat, the capital of Gagauzia, Moldova.
It’s a unique blend of diverse Eastern, Turkish, Slavic, and former Soviet cultural identities and influences!
Here are my first photos: The “I Love Komrat” sign, the memorial park with Moldovan and Gagauz flags, the majestic Orthodox cathedral and its golden domes…
If you’re looking for a destination with very little tourism and still a very authentic feel, come to Gagauzia; it’s well worth a visit!

Following our Gagauz visit to Komrat, here are some more photos of the city center, monuments dedicated to Lenin, Aleksandr Pushkin, magnificent floral decorations in the city center…

A complete change of scenery awaits you at the Komrat Market, the capital of Gagauzia.
A true blend of Eastern and Slavic cultures, from colorful fruit and vegetable stalls to fresh fish kept cool with artisanal methods (bottles of Coca-Cola with ice cubes)…

Gagauz Sofrasi
A true culinary feast in Congaz, Gagauzia (Moldova).
A culinary discovery at the traditional Gagauz Sofrasi complex, where we sampled several dishes from the Gagauz gastronomic culture.
The setting is authentic and rustic, with very generous portions and a warm welcome.
On the menu, typical dishes (with peasant roots and Turkish-Balkan heritage): “gagauz köfte” (meatballs), “placinta” (puff pastry stuffed with cheese or vegetables), and beef and vegetable soup served in terracotta pots.

Ethnographic Museum
We are visiting the National Museum of Gagauz History and Ethnography.
