🇨🇭 Sion – Täsch – Zermatt – Gornergrat

We’re leaving by bus this morning, heading for Täsch in Switzerland. As usual, the Swiss mountain scenery of Valais is magnificent.
Next stop, the Täsch – Zermatt train.

Boarding the “Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn” (Täsch – Zermatt) train.
The Zermatt Alpine Resort is closed to all internal combustion vehicles (we’re on a private bus), and this will also allow us to enjoy the magnificent, spectacular scenery of the Valais Alps, the pure mountain air, and the Matterhorn.

As soon as we arrive in Zermatt, we board the legendary train to Gornergrat.
The journey offers magnificent views of the Swiss Alps, the Alpine peaks, and the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks: Dent d’Hérens, Weisshorn, Obergabelhorn, Zinalrothorn…

Finally arrived at Gornergrat thanks to the cogwheel train (from Zermatt). The view is truly breathtaking, surrounded by Alpine glaciers, majestic peaks, and especially the Matterhorn.
We’ll enjoy the view, the panoramic platform, and take the opportunity to have a drink at over 3,000 meters above sea level.

Returning from the Gornergrat summit (3,089m) to Zermatt
The return journey to Zermatt by cogwheel train, right in the middle of the snow-covered Alpine landscape, we positioned ourselves on the left side to have a magnificent view of the Matterhorn at all times.

The train slowly approaches Zermatt. From the left side of the train, there’s a magnificent view of the valley, the Zermatt ski resort, and the Matterhorn.

It’s impossible to be in Switzerland, in the Valais, and not eat a real Swiss cheese fondue!
Delicious “half and half” fondue at Restaurant Derby in Zermatt: Gruyère AOP and Vacherin Fribourgeois, served in its own fondue pot, with bread.

It’s already the end of the Swiss trip. It was intense but unforgettable, back to the Moselle by bus.
