Dinant is a beautiful, lively little town located in Wallonia, nestled between steep cliffs and colorful houses along the Croisette.
The town is known for its colorful houses along the Meuse River, its barges and rowboats, the Charles de Gaulle Bridge, the saxophones (birthplace of the inventor of the saxophone, Adolphe Sax), the Notre-Dame Collegiate Church, the imposing Dinant Citadel, accessible by cable car or a 408-step staircase offering breathtaking views of the valley, its small restaurants serving traditional dishes of moules-frites, fricadelles, and shrimp croquettes, and the Leffe Abbey.
