Ávila is a historic medieval city in Castile and León, located about 110 km from Madrid.
Not to be missed:
The Walls of Ávila
The walls surrounding the city are over 2.5 km long, with 88 towers and 9 gates.
You can climb them for a magnificent view of the city.
The Cathedral of Ávila
Mirador de los Cuatro Postes
A photo spot par excellence, the best place to get a magnificent view of the city.
There is also the Mirador de los Quatro Pilars monument to visit, as well as the “Letters” of the City of Ávila.
Where to eat?
Taberna Restaurante las Murallas
We had lunch at the Taberna Restaurante las Murallas. We had traditional local specialties and tapas, such as cocido soup and morcilla (a kind of beef) as a starter, followed by a delicious Chuletón de Ávila steak (Avila-Negra Iberica breed, originally from Castile).
The restaurant’s decor is magnificent, rustic with hanging Iberian hams, wooden beams, and a warm and traditional atmosphere.
How to get here?
We came by organized bus from Madrid with a GYG day trip (Avila + Segovia Combo). Here’s my referral link: https://gyg.me/2K81BMJ1
