Je vous recommande fortement la visite de la ville de Ségovie, et particulièrement de l’Alcazar et de l’Aqueduc romain.
Must see
The Aqueduct of Segovia
Located in Plaza del Azoguejo, the Roman aqueduct of Segovia, built in the late 1st century to carry water from the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains, is one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Spain.
Entirely assembled from granite blocks, it is over 800 meters long and has 167 arches, some of which are over 30 meters high.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If you have time, climb to the “Postigo Del Consuelo” viewpoint and return in the evening for a completely different view of the aqueduct.
L’Alcázar
The fortified castle features Mudejar architecture (Muslim techniques and materials from the 12th to the 16th centuries).
The Alcázar resembles a ship and has served over the centuries as a royal palace, a state prison, a military academy, and a museum.
The cathedral
Construite au XVIe siècle sur la Plaza Mayor, la Cathédrale de Ségovie est la dernière grande cathédrale gothique construite en Espagne. Immense et lumineuse.
The alleys of Segovia
Strolling through Segovia, each street has its charm, its little treasure: a fountain, a medieval door, a view of the countryside…
Where to eat ?
We didn’t have the opportunity to eat here, which is a shame. But I can recommend the following specialties:
– Cochinillo asado: roast suckling pig
– Judiones de la Granja: white beans
– Roast lamb
– Ponche segoviano: typical dessert
How to come ?
We came by organized bus from Madrid with a GYG day trip (Avila + Segovia combined), I give you my sponsorship link: https://gyg.me/2K81BMJ1
