On 12 March 2026, off to Saverne and Haut-Barr castle, perched on its sandstone rocks.
Haut-Barr castle
Nicknamed the eye of Alsace, Haut-Barr is built on three sandstone rocks linked by footbridges. You climb, cross and explore the remains: I made a little series of it in several parts.
A magnificent view over the Alsace forests
From the top, the view over the Northern Vosges forests and the Alsace plain is magnificent.
The old Chappe telegraph
Right next to the castle stands the old Chappe telegraph, a station of the 18th-century optical communication network that relayed messages from tower to tower.
In the evening, a homemade Thai soup
Back home, a new Thai recipe: fish soup with coconut milk and curry, soy, fish and oyster sauces, lemongrass and coriander.
