Wednesday 5 August 2026, a day on the Côte Fleurie: Cabourg, Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer, then back to Rouen for the evening.
Cabourg, the beach and Belle Époque architecture
Cabourg has a magnificent beach, changeable weather (normal for Normandy) and windsurfers everywhere. The town keeps all its Belle Époque charm, with its villas and promenade.
Seafood platter at Le Beau Site
At lunch, a seafood platter at Le Beau Site in Cabourg. Choosing from the menu took a while, but the platter won everyone over.
Deauville, Les Planches and the Hôtel Le Normandy
On to Deauville and its famous Planches boardwalk, with beach cabins named after film stars, including Al Pacino. We also walk past the half-timbered Hôtel Le Normandy.
The €2 boat and the Trouville fish market
To get from Deauville to Trouville-sur-Mer, a small boat crosses the Touques for €2. Note: cash only.
In Trouville, the fish market is an institution: you can buy seafood and eat it on the spot, until 7 pm on the day we visited.
Back in Rouen, the quays by night
Back in Rouen for an evening walk along the Seine, then the city by night.
