🇪🇸 Madrid

Another trip in sight, this time to Spain, we depart from Findel Airport (Luxembourg) to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.

Arriving in Madrid, we will directly visit the city on foot.
Iglesia de las Calatravas (Calle de Alcalá), Palacio de Cibeles, then Gran Vía.

I was invited to a beautiful, Instagrammable, and rather hidden/secret spot in Madrid.
The rooftop bar Jardín Salvador Bachiller, in the heart of the upscale Salamanca neighborhood, next to Calle de Goya, is a peaceful haven of greenery and art, where you can have a drink or eat in a “timeless” place in Madrid.
Magnificent decorations: hanging flowers, a tunnel of purple LED lights and mirrors, oriental lanterns, vintage wrought iron furniture…
For my part, I had a Coco Loco Cocktail. There are variations with and without alcohol, of course (be careful, alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health).

It’s impossible to visit Madrid without stopping by the Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol.
There’s the Statue of Philip III, the Casa de la Panadería, the kilometer zero point for all roads in Spain, the Tío Pepe sign…

Right next to the Plaza Mayor, you’ll find the covered market in wrought iron, Belle Epoque style, “Mercado de San Miguel”, the perfect place to eat tapas, fried seafood (Pescaito frito) and other Spanish specialties, Iberian ham, lobster tacos… A very lively and friendly place.

We continue to visit Madrid, first the Tower of Madrid in the Plaza de España (seen from the outside only), then the monument to Miguel de Cervantes (author of Don Quixote), the Statue of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (Offered by the people of Mexico to the city of Madrid), and finally the Temple of Debod, an Egyptian temple built from the 2nd century BC by King Adijalamani of Meroe in honor of the Egyptian gods Amon and Isis.

This is an opportunity to try Venezuelan culinary specialties, such as the Empanada, in Madrid, on Calle de Arriaza.

We visit the Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real), an unforgettable visit.
