Here we go on another trip, this time to Switzerland.
We’re leaving by bus via Strasbourg, then Basel (passing the Stadium and St. Jakob Park).
We arrive in Interlaken, between Lakes Thun and Brienz, in the Bernese Alps.
Interlaken, a magnificent city located in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland.
We’re at the Höhematte Grand Parc, the perfect place for paragliding.
The first restaurant of our trip was lunch at the Grand Café Restaurant Schuh, with a view of the Swiss Alps and the paragliders of the Höhematte National Park.
A very good restaurant with local specialties, including the national dish of German-speaking Switzerland, veal sausage (Kalbsbratwurst) with golden rösti and a caramelized onion sauce.
A short stroll to Interlaken, between Lakes Thun and Brienz, in the Bernese Alps.
The opportunity to see the Höhematte National Park, numerous paragliders, and the chance to taste the national dish of German-speaking Switzerland, Kalbsbratwurst with rösti…
GoldenPass Express (Interlaken Ost → Montbovon)
We’ll board the famous GoldenPass Express (GPX).
We’ll board the GoldenPass Express (GPX) for an exceptional panoramic journey of just over 2 hours between Swiss lakes and mountains.
The train passes through Gstaad (a nod to OSS 117 fans) and the Simmental Valley, known for its famous Simmental meat tins.
An impressive feature: in Zweisimmen, the train automatically changes its wheel gauge (from 1435 mm to 1000 mm) thanks to a variable-gauge bogie system, without the need to change trains.
We were in second class, but even there, the panoramic windows offer a spectacular view, and a meal service is available on board.
Towards the end of our train journey (GoldenPass Express, GPX), the weather changes very quickly!
Delicious 3-course Swiss meal at the restaurant of the Ibis Sion Est Hotel tonight.
