Arriving in Como and a pistachio brioche
At 8 am, arrival in Como, and the first thing I eat: a brioche al pistacchio, the Italian croissant. For me, the best pastry in the world. Then Sesto San Giovanni, at the Abacus hotel, with Christmas decorations already up.
Varenna on Lake Como
Off to Varenna by train, with the true sound of Italy at the station. Glorious sunshine: I find Varenna far prettier than Bellagio. Busy, but fine. At Bar Giardino, the best octopus I’ve ever eaten.
San Siro and Bella Napoli
In the evening, the street art around San Siro stadium, then tuna tartare at Bella Napoli in Sesto San Giovanni.
