I visited London in early January 2024 on an organised coach trip from Moselle: three packed days between royal traditions, trendy districts and English football. Here is my route.

What to see in London

  • The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
  • Westminster: Big Ben, the Abbey and a tour of Parliament (online booking required).
  • Trafalgar Square and its shops, including Harry Potter themed ones.
  • Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, Soho, Carnaby Street and Chinatown, best in the evening.
  • Camden Town and its market, with the Cyberdog store.
  • Little Venice and Paddington, along the canals.
  • The Shard, the tallest skyscraper in Western Europe, with an incredible night view, then Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

Football in London

A game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a pub stop before kick-off, then a visit to Wembley: London is a football capital.

Where to eat in London

  • A Full English Breakfast in the morning: eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, mushrooms and toast.
  • Seafresh in Victoria for fish and chips.
  • The Minories, a traditional pub near the Tower of London.

Practical info

  • Get an Oyster Card for the Tube and buses.
  • Book The Shard and Parliament in advance.
  • In early January, the Christmas decorations are still up.
