Blick auf das Meer und die Fähren von der Bar Via Mare in L'Île-Rousse

🇫🇷 Corsica - Vineyards, mountains and L’Île-Rousse by little train

1 min read

Saturday 9 May 2026, our second-to-last day, and we cross the island to reach the Balagne in the north-west. First stop at Mariani beach, then the road through Corsican vineyards and mountains.

L’Île-Rousse by little train

In L’Île-Rousse we hop on the little train that leaves from the town centre and runs out to the Pietra peninsula, with its lighthouse and Genoese tower. The view over the town, the harbour and its red rocks is superb.

Prawn linguine and a drink facing the ferries

Lunch with grilled swordfish, then in the evening linguine with prawns flambéed in Cap Corse at Le Rendez-Vous, in L’Île-Rousse. To finish, a drink at the Via Mare bar, with a gorgeous view of the sea and the ferries leaving for the mainland and Sardinia. And of course, now that we have to leave, the sun is out.

Practical info

  • L’Île-Rousse: in the Balagne, north-west Corsica.
  • Little train: from the town centre to the Pietra lighthouse and the Genoese tower.
  • Cap Corse: a wine-based aperitif, used here to flambé the prawns.
