I have visited Copenhagen twice, in August 2025 and April 2026: a green, relaxed city where you get around on foot or by bike between parks, canals and districts with a unique feel.
What to see in Copenhagen
- Tivoli, the historic amusement park right in the city centre.
- Christiania, the self-governing alternative district, to visit respectfully (no photos in some streets).
- The Little Mermaid and the harbour walk.
- The parks: Ørstedsparken and Frederiksberg Gardens, with ducks and ducklings in spring.
- The city’s museums, perfect on grey days.
Day trips
- Kronborg Castle in Helsingør, Hamlet’s castle.
- Malmö in Sweden, over the Øresund Bridge, with the Turning Torso tower, then the university town of Lund.
Practical info
- I stayed at Wakeup Copenhagen, well located and affordable for the city.
- The city is expensive: budget for meals.
- Bikes rule: watch out for cycle lanes when walking.
